a pastel buying day.

Yesterday was a successful buying adventure. I bought the following lovelies: 1) New fresh, mild smelling organic shampoo. I generally cannot tolerate fragrances, but this one is subtle. We'll see.
2) A lovely box of notecards and envelopes. I've had these before, but this time I went with the pastel set. They come in very handy for a variety of uses. A bike stamp with my name on it & I'll be set for years.
3) Three sets of vintage fabrics found at a random stop-in to a local store called Anthology. I want to make a dress or apron from these one day. Learning to sew may come in handy if this is to happen...whatever.
4) Good 'ole Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bars. I usually go with Kiss My Face 100% Olive Oil soaps, but I sometimes need a break and crave the familiar lotion-y softness of this classic.
5) White balloons for the brunch tomorrow.
6) Tiffany blue curling ribbon for hanging them.

Also purchased but not pictured---grits. Been missing my breakfast, y'all.

2). Parking on the 46 to look over at the ocean way below.
3). Paper goodies.
4). Warm mineral baths for 2 less than an hour from us.
5). Surprise brunch birthday get together on Saturday. Shhh!
6). Ginger muffin success.
7). His feet on mine. Warm in bed. Every night.
8). Drive-in movie coming up?
9). Neatest little loose leaf tea shop in SLO by the river walkway. Pictures forthcoming?
10). Window shopping for two little twins coming in 7 months!
11). Honey roibush tea.
12). Farmer's Market tomorrow.
13). $5 bike fix--no more rattling over bumps now! Yay!

Fu**ing A Prius + a lovely bike ride.

I had to laugh seeing this bag on etsy earlier this evening, right before my bike ride.I was in a really grumpy mood before but riding my bicycle always cheers me up. How could it not when I saw the following? :

1) A bunny rabbit
2) A turkey with its large-ish chicks crossing the road.
3) Two black cows chewing their cud.
4) My dream house (complete with a wood plank bridge over a tiny stream).
5) The sun reflecting gorgeously off these Californian hills.
6) A lady painting on an easel beside her car.
7) My blue grocery list flying out of my pocket (yes, I pedaled back to pick it up).

DIY rustic cake stand

One Wed

Its a good thing my wedding is over (um, two years ago), because I would be daily obsessing right now with all the resources available on the internet. I still might make this rustic wood cake stand just for the hell of it. Check instructions out here.

look-ey, look-ey what I found

Those gorgeous vintage-inspired bridesmaid dresses? They're made from this etsy seller right here.
The funny thing is, I have had my eye on those before seeing the wedding. This happens so often. What a great way to support handmade goods. I need/want/must have one.

an amazing wedding

Our Labor Of Love Photography.

On one of the photography blogs that I follow there was an AMAZING wedding featured. Apparently one extremely lucky couple won a free wedding from some wonderfully talented vendors. Check out the full set of pics right here.

Neil hunting

The past couple of days have been spent up in the Palo Alto area visiting our two hilarious friends, helping them move into their new place. While there we listened to a lot of Neil and tried to scout out his homestead (to little, but fun avail). Some pics from the time:

simplicity

Although the 'simplicity' sentiment is quite trite, I like this print:

Asparagus/Happy Weekend/Scenes from a Friday

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend... One hopefully filled with fresh local asparagus like ours will be! From the Farmer's Market this afternoon:
And other scenes from our Friday:I heart my bike. And California poppies on the side of the road. These will work their way into our bellies sometime this week. And these I bought just simply because they were pretty. No doubt they'll be yummy as well.
I picked up this biker on the road and we decided to get married. He sure is cute.

shortie

My mother-in-law had the most rockin' short haircut during Philipp's baby days. One day I need to scan a pic and post it. Looking through Bumble & Bumble's website, I found this gorgeous short haircut. On the right girl, this is perfection.

Let's Go Ride A Bike

What a lovely lady with her bike! From the cool and inspiring blog of two women who decided to exclusively bike as a means of transportation (while remaining stylish!): {Let's Go Ride A Bike}

hanging frou frous

I spotted this picture over on Simple Lovely and had to check it out. I love the way this little girl's nursery was made up. Check out more info & pics of the full room over on Design*Sponge. How fun would that be to wake up to this colorful display every morning? So creative!

4th of July

From Flickr user Lone Cypress

Today I cycled on the breathtaking Santa Rosa Creek Road. Besides going for the absolutely gorgeous scenery (I saw baby deer today!), I like to ride by to check out my dream house, home to the TreViti winery. The house has since been remodeled from the picture on that link and looks quite disimilar, come to think about it. I did take my own picture while passing by, so I will have to upload it like the freak that I am.

I like to imagine myself baking bread there (more than likely in a cute retro apron), making jams from the berries I've picked while my fingers stain red, chasing a few pretty babies around the enclosed garden, reading in a hammock and kissing my husband on a tire swing. Le Creuset pots and pans, oddly enough, are added into this fantasy of mine. One day maybe, but for now I'm happy with my ramshackled cottage and scruffy line dried sheets. The husband is the bigger part of that fantasy and I've already got him.

loooooove it.

So we bought the bike. And I love love love it! I've already cycled to the Farmer's Market this afternoon. Here are a few pics.

Electra Amsterdam

So tomorrow we are going to check out this bad boy (used), the Electra Amsterdam 3 speed. I am hoping it will be all that I want + more. I really am torn between loving the style of both of these bicycles (the aforementioned Jenny and this one). The Amsterdam has a generator light, bell, skirt guard & sweet Euro look. The Jenny has 7 speeds instead of 3, hand brakes & a cool retro Americana look. I am so torn! They are both awesome (looking) bikes, but I am left wondering if a 3 speed will be sufficient or not. I'll report back tomorrow (maybe with a new bike?!).

Schwinn Jenny

Yeah, so this bike is pretty much needing to pedal to me. I love the retro styling and the yellow! I went to check out and possibly buy and old vintage Raleigh bike today, but it was a bit clunky for my liking and for the price the guy wanted. Plus 3 speeds on Californian hills would pretty much kill my little stick legs. Bike fairy, I've been a good girl....
